Is there a safe version of these? I want something to go across the pony's door. She's in a lot of the time and her door is too high - she can only just poke her nose over the top! The stable is huge but looking ahead to warmer weather (I think I remember what that is...

) I'd like to be able to leave the door open so she can get some air in there.

I was always told things like that weren't safe tho - not sure why. They were banned from the last yard I was at. The pony is only 11.2 so something like that should be fine for her

my horse has one because he itches on his door and with it open he is much happier in summer. Only problem is he has a tendency to lean on them, not coz he wants out just because he falls asleep, he's nearly fallen flat on his nose a few times

!! I have tried a few, the one like above and the rubber sausage ones but both of those have broken. The one he has now is by equiport, expensive but it has lasted nearly 4 years now while the longest the others lasted was 1 month. The other option and probably cheaper is to put up a thick piece of wood that can slide through two brackets, sorry can't explain that very well

Do you want a DIY idea??
I get a length of sturdy chain and slide into a piece of thick water pipe, a headcollar clip both ends and 2 rings on the wall. Dead easy and effective but make sure the height is right or they can limbo underneath or step out over the top.
Two of the above if you have a problem

i have one of these ..
http://www.equestrianclearance.com/weatherbeeta/stable_stall_guards/index.html

i use it when i am mucking out or am in the barn.i never leave it unattended because i have heard of the horror stories of these clips(these clips are also used on some bucket holders)where horses have fiddled with the clips and torn their mouths.
i wonder if they could be fixed on the ouside out of reach?

why dont you get a handy man to make a small stable door for her? then she can look out! most satbles have a common door width so if you move yards ou can take it with you or if youy sell the little pony you can include her special door! i had one made for the shittie! perfect and he loves it!

As ocyc suggests. I've got a teeny (9hh) Shetland now and the first thing I did was arrange for the stable door to be lowered so ned can see out and get to know all the comings and goings. Rather than cut down the normal sized stable door, our very helpful yard Handy Andy put 2 strips of wood just INSIDE the door jamb, making a slot. Then he cut a piece of marine ply to fit and added a strip of wood across the top of it to act as a handle. So the normal door stays open and tied back and the new slide-in door lifts in and out of the slots. If you need to, you can still close the big door. The only problem with this was the slide-in door was too heavy for me to lift comfortably and I suspected that the 2 tinies that share this stable might have snuck out while I was wrestling with the door. So Handy Andy cut the new slide-in door in half across its width. So there are now 2 slide-in doors that slot in one on top of the other. Two little faces hang over the door and nobody but nobody can resist stopping to give the noses a scratch. VERY good for timid tinies (these are the Christmas Day rescue ponies that were posted on here).

When we had out donkey my dad made a 'donkey door' for one of the stables. It was perfect for him and when not in use it fasten back to the inside of the stable so doesn't cause a problem when stabling a normal sized horse with the normal door shut.

May be worth asking your dad if he's good at stuff like that/ My dad fitted a standard stable bolt to it so it just bolted into the wall like a normal door wood. It didn't go all the way to the floor though so there was no kickover or anything but it was fine.

We still have it now so if we ever have a mini again we're all set.

My Section A whose also 11.2hh has two 'sausage' things like xmasname posted aswell as a bungi cord fastened across the bottom of the two sausages. They're both clipped onto the left hand side of the door and are crossed over and the ends clipped onto the other side so that the cross over. She originally limboed under them daily until the bungi cord was fitted to the two lower hooks so that it was too hard for her to push under. Her stable door is never shut and has lived in the stable with the current arrangement for months, even at night

My shetland has a wooden gate hinged to his door so that he can see out

Yes they can get the clips caught on noses (had two do it now) and rip them up! yuck. Best thing to do is looka for a chain with a quick release one end (they do make them) and wrap vet wrap round the other end, this way there's nothing for them to hurt themselves on.
