One of my cats exploded into the sitting room with a bird in it's mouth with the other cat in hot pursuit this am. I really hate the fact they catch so many mice and other small rodents, not to mention the occasional rat. I do however really loathe it when they catch birds, which they are unfortunately good at.

I did manage after about 10 minutes to rescue said bird, not helped by two over excited Labradors, two cats all helping. I swear one cat ran round the wall.

I honestly did think it would not survive but couldn't bring myself to 'finish' it off. I put it in the only place I could think of, the dogs feed bin! Dark and not able to get out of and in the conservatory.

Told OH when he got home. He got the bird out and took it outside, opened his hand and it flew off, hopefully will make it.

The bird was a Goldcrest Wren! I have never seen one before and so very tiny! Absolutely beautiful.

There are times when I really dislike my cats! They are now forgiven and sitting on my lap as if butter wouldn't melt.

Just googled it and oh my goodness what a beautiful bird. Glad you managed to rescue it.

Wrens are feisty little things, we had one nest on the bridleway and it would come out an attack you. My horse used to duck and run past it!
