Hi all,

I am looking to get a cheap and cheerful cotton sheet for my mare. Mostly to be used on the odd travelling occasion. I like the look of the Saxon Cotton Sheet;

But I'm a bit confused by the description which says "10oz canvas outer". This is 284g! I just want a lightweight cotton sheet, but liked the price and colour of this one.

Does anyone have one of these and is it really quite heavy?

Alternative suggestions (hunter green/navy, <£30!) welcomed!

Thanks.

I have a saxon cotton sheet in navy/green, a very nice rug, good fit but the stitching came undone on one of the straps, it may be a one off so I prob would buy the rug again

Thanks. I have a couple of Saxon rugs already and they've been really good value for money. Her fleece rug is still going strong after two years being used as a lightweight stable rug!

Is the cotton sheet "light"? That's my main concern as I'm looking for something lighter than a fleece, so no point in buying if it's the same- I've hundreds of fleeces lying about!

Fab. Thanks for that. Wanting something that's inbetween a fleece and nothing so sounds about right. Reckon it's a bit of a bargain and I'm planning on keeping it "nice" for the odd travelling to places, so it should hold up well enough! (the rats chewed a hole in my "nice" fleece!

And (most importantly?!) it's in the right colours!

I had a navy blue one with green straps, that was a summer sheet, was really good and great value for money, however....little word of warning.

If your horse is grey, and there is a chance that they may be a little light shower, be warned, you will end up with a blue horse!
so wash it first if you don't mind the whole of your livery yard being in stiches at your funky coloured horse!

<-- at your poor blue horse!!! Luckily my girl is brown (helps the mud blend in better!

), so hopefully would disguise a little blueness!

Thanks for the tip though! Have seen it at a good price on a couple of websites, so will order at the weekend.

Thanks again all!

I bought one last October - just wanted a cheap and cheerful raincoat for unclipped horse during the day throughout the winter - very impressed with how waterproof it was in torrential rain and wind. It fits well and stays put through all sorts of messing and would be perfect for summer as its extremely light. Just a basic raincoat I would say and excellent value.
