I was having a look at these

http://www.robinsonsequestrian.com/...-boots/saxon-equileather-plain-tall-boot.html

On the robinsons website and I'm quite interested in them :) I have some vouchers I got for xmas for robinsons so I was going to put them against a set in my size.

Does anyone on here have them and what are they like to ride in etc? They won't be for everyday wear, they will be for comps and parties, I have my old faithful jodh boots and chaps for at home, but I'm hoping they won't fall apart after a few uses lol.

So what have you or your friends/yardmates thought of yours :)

I wouldn't spend £60 on plastic boots. For that you can get some really nice joddie boots to wear with gaiters or you could get a nearly new pair of long leather boots.

I also wouldn't compete in plastic boots

I bought a pair a several years ago - waste of money. The material separates and creases after a few wears and i only wore them for shows. You then have like a film that just comes off. Best off putting money towards a decent leather pair.

Please don't buy Saxon Boots ! Mine fell apart after two wears (the zip). I had only paid £20 for them in a sale, and when I took them back, the lady said that was why they were flogging them off cheap, and not re=stocking the brand.

Hmmm not good reviews. The thought behind getting them was that with me still toning and losing weight and inches is that my gaiters no longer fit, I would be around 80 quid to get the gaiters that I like to which then in say less than a year I would be looking to get a pair of made to measure boots.

I also would need to buy a new pair of joddy boots as mine are now not fit for comps lol.

Rethinking now, if I got decent reviews I was going to go try a pair on but not so sure now if they won't last the year.

Don't touch with a barge pole. I bought some for everyday riding. Very comfortable butt 27 days was all I got before the lacquer peeled and the heels dropped off. I didn't even use them round the yard; just for riding.

I complained to Saxony, together with pictures, and never even got a reply. Sadly, petrochem geek that I am, I knew what the problem was (wrong plasticiser) and I don't think they were very happy to be told that they were making their boots out of the wrong stuff.

How about Treadstone? I only wear mine for shows and occasional schooling, but have had them years and they still look like new, so sounds like they would last longer than the Saxon ones going by the reports on here! They are actually leather and are about £50 on ebay etc.

Love them except they are too big on the calf - wanted something a bit tighter to make my legs look less short and dumpy, so have ordered some Shires Norfolk boots from Barnstormers. They are full leather (even linings!) only £95 (much cheaper than Robinsons and even Shires own website!) and come in 2 heights and various calf widths. Reports on here sounded good, will see when they arrive tomorrow ;)

Rubbish things.

I picked up a pair for about £30 in the sale as general riding boots whilst saving for my ariats (which I now have, yay!) and they looked ok enough to wear out and about for about 2 weeks. 2 months and all the plastic had pealed off anywhere that they creased. I wore them till they started really badly leaking...3 months.

My sister got her OH a pair at the same time, and they lasted 3 rides before the zip broke!

I liked the just toggs cheapo ones I had before for cheap and cheerful. Lasted much, much better.
