After 2 days of incredible sadness I have finally decided that it's best for Indie to be pts today. She is still bright eyed and eating well but her back legs have all but gone and she's fallen backwards down the stairs a couple of times. I put a baby gate across so she can't hurt herself while I'm out but she's faltering just taking ordinary steps now so after LOTS of tears and changing my mind by the minute it's all organised for this morning. I have tried so hard to keep her going with courses of this and that but as my mum said yesterday, you can't cure old age.

I've only had her 2 years but she is leaving the biggest hole a dog has ever left and i'll miss her old lady ways so much.

RIP my beautiful girl xx

That's so sad but there comes a time when medicine and love is not enough. I hope all goes well and she has a peaceful passing. (((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))

When some time has passed, I'm sure that the knowledge that you took the decision when she still had the sparkle in her eyes and when she still was able to enjoy things in life, such as eating, will help to comfort you.

With lots of sympathy for your heartbreaking decision.

R.I.P. Indie

Thanks you guys xx I just got back with her ashes and difficult though it was her ending was so lovely I can't be sad that she went that way.

A gentler, funnier, sweeter dog never lived and I'll miss her fuzzy old face loads but I couldn't have watched her suffer.

At least you know you did completely the right thing by her. I had one of my Labs PTS when his legs went as the same as you I loved him too much to see him suffer.
Unfortunately IMO my mum kept her dog far beyond what was reasonable, but she struggled to come to terms with the fact he wasn't going to improve. She did eventually face it but not until he could no longer move much at all.
