Saying goodbye

We had to say goodbye to little pony today.
He had been happy in his stable until yesterday when he wouldn't say hello to anyone.

At 21 going through a bout of lami and he had lost a lot of weight in the last week we decided to call it a day.

When he came to live with us in jan we though it would be only for a month until he was pts as he was do poor but he shocked us. After spending the last ten years in a stable with one or two days out a month he wanted to experience a summer like a pony should. He even had a saddle brought for him and went on hacks in the big wide world.

But it seems the one summer was all he needed and this morning my fabulous vet and vet nurse came out and with my sister holding him we said goodbye. Mum, Dad, Brother and three close friends were with us and the whole yard gave us words of peace and support.

It was the best send off he could have had after a few hours munching on juicey grass.

Run free little pony and say hi to bruiser for us.

We all went done the harvester for lunch after and my sisters boyfriend called it his wake. Which in a nice way when we thought about it it was.
We had laughs and giggles and sad moments but we were together.

So sorry but it sounds like you gave him a nice few months; he'll have died happy.

Believe me, to remember him with fun and laughter is the best medicine.

This story makes me smile rather than cry, the pony who wanted just one summer as a real horse, and got his wish, YUP, this is a happy story, not a sad one.

Well, it made me smile too, but with a little tear, because it was so touching. I am so glad the little chap enjoyed one summer like a little pony should. You should be very proud. You gave him the time of his life, however short that time was, and I'm sure he would thank you.
