I always try to say thank you to show organisers. Even if it means an extra trip to the secretary's tent. I found the show organiser today and said thank you and she looked really surprised but grateful. It doesnt take much does it, just a thank you.

Me too, at driving events now i tend to thank before its started, because their always really harassed by the end! and i try to thank the judges or drop an email to the organiser thanking her and the team,
think its good thaking the judges, its a pretty thankless job alot of the time...

Having seen first hand over the last few months just how much preparation goes in to do a show, I will definately seek the organisers out and thank them. Luckily my show on Sun is organised by my boss so it will be easy to thank her.
Also the judges, stewards, guys letting you in to the ring etc should be thanked even if you don't get placed, they are just volunteers and aren't paid for doing it.

That's how i feel. They are just volunteers. Ok money is being made (perhaps) but it is a lot of hard work running a show. Show organisers, stewards, judges etc get a lot of flack so I think to thank them if you have had a nice day redresses the balance a bit!

It would also be nice if people were to thank the ring stewards, whenever it happens I am shocked as it is such a rare event.

Me too, but many are surprised! They do remember me though and help me out when I have forgotten to call for my times!!

I say "well done" to the person before me at dressage and "good luck" to the person after me and I am always shocked at the number of people who don't say anything back

Yes and I also wish that people would remember that all show officials are there as volunteers. We give up our time so that they can compete, we are not the "hired help", mind you even if we were they could still be polite!

Hear hear! I have often felt like the hired help. It makes all the difference when someone says thank you. There are some nice people around though. I was assisting with car parking at our recent RC show (not one of the most exciting jobs but someone has to do it) and this lovely young man (aged about 16) asked if he could get me a drink and a burger.
