A strange scabbiness seems to have errupted on my horses muzzle!

(looks a bit like eczma would) The two horses in the fields next to him have also got this but theirs has gone scabby and is bleeding and looking quite sore. One has it on his heels the other on her nose, the owners of these two have no idea what it is and it just seems to have got worse and worse and spread, (especially on the geldings heels). Two arabs across the road have also apparently got it. Any ideas what it could possibly be? Owners of the arabs had the vets out who haven't got a clue what it is! A friend today suggested getting a soil sample as it could be something bacterial? what do others think? Has anyone had anything similar? Thanks

Their noses are chapped from wet grass. Just cover them with something like vasaline which will help heal and also protect them from the wet.

The heals are cracked heals - again from moisture - so they too need protecting.
