Scabby patches under forelock

Hi. My companion pony has developed a couple of weird scabby patches under her forelock - what could they be? The scabs are dry and don't appear infected or anything and don't seem to bother her. The pony often wears a fly mask but hasn't don't so for about 3 weeks so I don't think it can be that. I've rubbed in some sudocreme - should I do anything else?

No idea but watching this thread with interest as our pony had this last year. Didn't bother her either and seemed to be small cracks in the skin which seeped the gunk which made the scabs. Hasn't come back this year even though pony on same routine, field etc.

Forgot to say, each patch is slightly bigger than a 50p piece, so cant just be fly bites.
