Scabs on my horse?

Hi Just wondered if anyone could help me
My horse has a few small scabs on his skin and seems very itchy although not too uncomfortable. For the last 2 weeks he has been living out and doesnt seem to be as itchy now. He has a trace clip and is wearing a heavyweight turnout but does have thick hair. Does anyone know what this could be?

Where are they? Legs and belly might mean mudfever. Slathered legs in pig oil and sulphur-you can get it ready mixed off eBay. Lots of good info on here about mudfever, search in here.

Hi. They are on his back mainly, there aren't any where he is clipped just seems to be where he's got thick hair.

Could he be overheating? Its been mild down here the past few weeks and on a couple of days my mare has gone naked.

Could be where you've not managed to groom down to the skin. I was ashamed after clipping at how scurfy/scabby my lad was. Groom gently and use a mild antiseptic lotion if necessary.
