I have my lovely pony broodmare advertised for sale on a few sites and today I've had an email from a chap wanting to know several questions.......OK so far.

BUT..........

First question was what condition was she in? Huh? Unless he means is she in foal atm but surely I'd have put that in the ad.
Last question was what was the lowest price that I would sell her for?

Well she is advertised at a price ono so surely that will give him some guidance.
I emailed back cautiously and said re price that home is more important than price and that I would consider sensible offers.
I also asked him what type of horse/pony he wanted to breed.

He's emailed back just asking again what is my lowest price so that he can make an offer, ignoring my question.
I don't get it.......I emailed back again saying it would depend on the home he was offering her and that she is advertised at****ono.

His spelling and grammer isn't great, am I right to be very suspicious?

Also, I'm not sure how he got my email address as the sites that she's advertised on only give my phone number bar one where the price is different to the one he quoted in his first email as I couldn't edit the ad.

Do you think my gut feelings are right, I don't want to lose a possible sale but in the light of the Amersham horses I am very wary.

Scam, God are those ones still going aound!

Ive had them for cars and horses. Next he will say he wants to pay you MORE than she is worth, but he will send a bit extra part of which you need to send back to him, then his payment bounces and he has your dosh. Its complicated, but yes , its a scam.

Thanks.

I've read of the ones before when it's from abroad and they want to pay upfront without seeing the horse, can't remember how the rest went but it could be similar.

Perhaps this chap is trying to appear more genuine but it didn't add up.
I shalln't waste any more time with him then!

I got 1 of these when I put an advert in Ad Mag years ago looking for a loan horse. I wasn't even selling a horse!

when i was trying to sell / loan poppy, i got tonnes of those, even a guy who wanted her transported via ship to america!! don't even look twice at enquiries like that in my opinion all they'll want to do if breed as many foals of her to sell
