I noticed that there was a half hour appearance by the Scarteen Hunt on TV recently.

The Master, Chris Ryan, comes across brilliantly and really shows the pack in a great light. As a complete beginner to the world of hunting it really makes me want to travel over to Ireland. They look like a very nice bunch!

Enjoy!

I was sceptical at first but having watched the first 5 minutes on YouTube it really is a great program all about hunting! We should have more of this sort of thing on Countryfile...

It froze at 14.50, and it wouldn't catch up, which was a shame. What I saw was excellent! I loved the bit about the history and origins of the hounds. I've a book somewhere, about the hounds of France. I'll dig it out and do some research!!

Can you imagine if such stuff was on the Beeb? There'd be those on here, and elsewhere who'd have an attack of the vapours!!

Thank you for that. It made me want to cross the water!

Alec you missed the best bit, they showed Chris Ryan with the Scarteen Black and Tans, brilliant. Try again it's worth watching.

I've managed to get the infernal contraption to work, and it is such a delight. Chris Ryan is truly an ambassador of hunting. A truly remarkable piece of film.

I would that SarahC could watch it, and all those others who are so opposed to hunting, and those who hunt. I feel certain that were those who are so opposed to hunting to live cheek by jowl with an "existence, a being", an existence which goes far beyond the claimed for cruelty or the reality of killing a living creature, then I think that they would perhaps have an understanding of an all consuming passion, and perhaps gain an understanding.

VOM, I'm grateful that you prompted me to have a second look. It was a wonderful piece, thank you.

Alec.

ps. The whip arrived safely, after an awful lot of "mucking about"!! :D;) a.
