Decided to go on a hack with a young horse i'm riding on behalf of a friend so brought a separate friend with me to walk with. We went into a field for a canter as he'd behaved on the hack and had some fun.
Set off at a canter and horse gets excited and starts bucking, so i'm trying to sit the bucks and canter and as he bucked he jumped to the side and I fell off onto my hip, leg then head. Laid in the field screaming as friend calls an ambulance. Next thing I know, a guy runs over and puts a blanket on me and tent over me (from fell rescue) and calms me down. Then the paramedics arrived and started dealing with me and getting me warm and such. Little did I know, they had asked for the air ambulance to come so that landed near me (cue me panicking and getting upset).
They help me up and onto a stretcher and load me into the ambulance and give me gas and air as needle phobic. They thought i'd broken my hip (gross) and rushed me to A&E.
Spent just under 2 hours in there having x-rays and tests. Thankfully nothing broken except the torn muscles in the back of my legs and bruised hip bone. Now on crutches! I was told I was very lucky not to have broken my hip!!
(Horse was taken home safely and had no injuries thankfully)
Very scary day and one i'll never forget!! (Yes, I feel I need to write this down as it's starting to sink in)
