Just had a horrible evening bought the ponies in yesterday afternoon (myne and a friends as they live together) caught them with some food a carrot as usual they lead into the yard put them in and they got there dinner when my friends horse a section a suddleny went off his food which is very unlike him he then started to chock so massaged his throat and callled my friend up whos pony it is, this went on for about a hour but he started to cough up and seemed much better so we left to come back up later on.
We went back up half a hour later and he seemed to be blowing and not good again, we then had the vet out who managed to get a tube down and release the dam carrot!!
He then seemed much brighter although sedated and this morning is back to normal runing round the stable wondering why there is no food for him!
Poor boy has 3 days if anti bi's and sugarbeet hopefully all fixed now though! sorry for the long post but hopefully he is fine now!!

Poor thing! My boy's had choke twice now although we put a lot of water in his feed, hes just a pig, so worrying though, glad the pony is ok now, hugs x

It is very worrying but often looks more dramatic than it really is. A vet nurse I know had a pony who was eventually sorted out after a week long choke. The vet she works for had tried a variety of cures and eventually managed to pull a piece of plastic sheet out of the horse's gullet. They really were thinking pts was the next step. But the pony HAD survived for a week - lost a lot of weight tho' and extremely worrying for VN
