Good to know the symptoms, glad they were given as 24 hours from onset is not a lot of time to work with if the animal stands a chance. Thanks for posting
 
Certainly does Twiggy, you work at a vets, have you ever seen it?
Trouble is if I had a coughing dog I wouldn't go to the vets normally, I have always allowed kennel cough to run its course (haven't had it for years, mind you). Perhaps I shouldn't from now on?

No have not seen it but reading that article (which is 9months old or similar) most cases over here have not been diagnosed till after the event (post mortem?), we have a vet taking her medical certificate exams this week and if anyone can correctly diagnose a case it will be this vet. It looks very rare over here so personally I would stick with not taking a coughing dog to the vet unless it seemed ill in other ways.
 
Years ago a foxhound pack lost a lot of hounds to something they caught by eating an infected horse caracss. It was awful.
