As the title says really. Iv recently taken a share on a new horse and when in the arena on the left rein he bends to the right all the way round. This is especially noticable in trot where getting him into the corners is sometimes near impossible.

Did alot of work on the left today and managed to get him doing some nice trot circles (albeit with alot of left leg) in a nice outline. Even on the right rein when going around the corners he seems to sometimes swing to the right.

I wouldnt say its me (although the last horse i rode for this woman seemed to do this too) as my own horses didnt. any idea on exercises? today he was really bad at the start but seemed to improve but then as i worked him harder he kinda threw his toys out the pram and was even worse than before! Hes very unbalanced in canter on this rein too (and not much better on the other rein tbh) He feels quite green sometimes but other times hes like a different horse! hes 9 but was used mainly for XC so it might be this......or hes just testing the water as iv only ridden him twice. Id be tempted to say he was just napping as its worse in the corners facing away from the field, but then he does it in the other corners too :( any help very welcome!

ps. sorry its so long, was hard to describe lol.

The best exercise for dealing with this is usually to leg yield spirals (in and out of a circle) on that rein. Don't worry about his "outline" for now; just get him moving forward and laterally correctly in this exercise.

It sounds like either you or his owner has been riding with too much weight on the right seatbone and the horses are crooked as a result. Make sure you (and her, if you're able!) are correctly aligned, which will help the horse too.

It's really hard to advise without seeing him but good luck!
