Since having Flint stay we have been thinking about short term livery. Both my daughter and myself have our BHSAI ,my daughter has her PC A test and has competed successfully in BSJA/BD and BE.
Do you think there is a market for short term schooling or holiday livery and how much should be charged?

Yes, we do a lot at home alongside our full liveries and there is a lot of demand.
We charge £150 per week I think which includes going on the walker as well as exercise 6 days a week.

I only take short-term, holiday and schooling liveries these days, because it gives me much more freedom than having full liveries all the time. I tend to be either really really busy or not very busy at all - but that suits me fine.

I charge a basic full livery rate which includes exercise on the walker and turnout if required. Then I charge my time out at an hourly rate for schooling/ridden exercise on top. I am very specific about what I have done/when I have done it. I find a lot of people get p*d off with other yards who don't do what they are meant to do. I don't advertise - it's all word of mouth.

What rate you set will depend upon the area you are in. It's cheap over here!

Don't forget you will need all your insurances in place, but that's not terribly expensive.

I'd say £150 for a one off week would be cheap (for you riding).

If you are planning to teach the owners on their horses, I'd work on £110 per week for full livery plus your lessons, if every day at £15 you'd be dirt cheap so £105 = £215.

The hassle of having a new horse staying for only a week I'd want £200 (reduced for longer periods).

The other problem I can see is that you are likely to get nutters with bad habits. Can you or your daughter afford to be out of action because some nutty horse has thrown you off?
