have just bought a 4yo pony. everything is perfect apert from whenever i try to take her into the school she is scared and looking at everything. i can not get to ride her properly without my mum walking round in front then she follows like a dog. if i take her into a field she rides lovely no problem at all. does any one know what i can do to make her settle more in the school. i knew she was green when i bought her and that is not a problem i am happy to bring her on. i am just unsure how to approach this problem. thanks for reading

try turning her out in the school for 1 hours or so, she will then get a chnace to settle and explore. do it for about a week if poss

i did think about that today it is a good idea hopefully she will explore and realise its not so bad. i don't think she has been in many schools as she is so different in a field to ride.

Let her loose in there so she knows the surroundings and then lunge her in there. If it goes well try riding her in your next session together. you could also check the perimetre to see if theres anything "odd" or "spooky" about effecting her behaviour.

one side is the fields that she does not mind. then the gate side that is ok. then the top side has a big bush that is scary. the worst side has a barn and if you look inside you can see the tractor and all down the edge of the school the same side as the tractor it has been dug out and you can see MUD this is what is really worrying her.

maybe walk her around with you. With a halter on and a long lead rope and walk in front of her. She will probably trust you and in the walk around the school she can stop and sniff at things that she is nervous of
