Morning everyone, I realise most of us are occupied with the dressage but I was hoping to pick your brains. Im after some tips regarding my extremely lazy gelding. We do lots of transitions, lateral work, vary his work to keep him interested and forward but he has been away on schooling livery while I relocated and has come back with all his old bad habits and a new one, napping!
Last night I had an uncomfortable introduction with the floor when he went from cantering around like a dream to napping through his outside shoulder to the doors, falling over a cone in his way and then bucking like stink. So I was hoping for some tips, what exercises do you do with your lazy horses? And the cheeky ones?
I have only been back on him for two days so we need to build up our partnership again but Im a bit of a wimp and afraid to really push him when he starts acting the goat in canter but walk and trot is no problem at all. All his checks are up to date and hes happy and settled in himself.
Some pics of the boy to brighten up the thread

That's brilliant thank you, will definitely look into them :)

That pic is actually the aftermath of one of his nasty bucking fits but you are totally right about him escaping through his shoulder. I did find that when I was able to get my outside leg on more and correct the bend he quickly came back to me. I do suffer with muscle damage in my left side so getting weight into the left stirrup is tricky sometimes but I think those downloads will help lots will regards to my confidence and taking things at my own pace. Thank you again :)
