Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some schooling tips, I ride a variety of school horses every week. I enjoy schooling but I am getting bored of doing the same things all the time!!!

Something that interests the horse would be good as they often are doing the same thing over and over again in beginner lessons.

Thnx :)

learn a dressage test at home and then try and go through it, it's good because it gives both you and the horse something to think about and they'll be alot of changes of pace and direction :)

Also you could play games, do pole work, try and ride without reins etc etc

I do pole work, not just schooling over the poles, but weaving in and out using my legs and upper body to turn, and even weaving around two and then going straight and going over the remainder. Gets them listening and just a little bit different.:)

Lots of changes of direction/pace, pole work, collected/extended work, leg yielding in/out decreasing circle size and then working on extension out of the circle!

Allll sorts!! The 101 schooling tips sounds like a good book ;) and the dressage test idea :)
