Since my horse is busted  I'd quite to have some lessons on a schoolmaster type to try and work on me..... can anyone recommend anywhere?

Oldencraig is very close by, but I want to work on me - feel, seat etc, and not ride something in draw reins..... if what I hear is true

Thanks in advance! :D

I hear Sarah Williams is supposed to be quite good but I'm not sure what level the horses are at. Also I saw on their website Dressage Volente, Mark Butler does schoolmaster lessons - again not sure what level they are or if they do still offer this. I'm sure someone may know or Emma could comment if she see this :)

I'll be watching this with interest as I am also looking to have a couple of schoolmaster lessons - pref around PSG level as i seem to end up with youngsters and sj'ers and haven't done this level for a while! I think I've forgotten!

Thank you I will check those out! I want to ride something established but doesn't need to be PSG. I really want to develop my seat and feel, and hopefully take that back to my own horse once he's fixed!!

Hello :)

Thanks jo_currie, yes we do lessons.

First lesson is always an assessment, this is so we can assess you, in the past we have fallen foul of 'dreamers' whose actual ability is a world away from their perceived ability ;)

We have a couple of horses we teach on both established but not both can do changes.

Send me a PM if you would like any more info x

June Long in Offham is a good, correct trainer. She has a schoolmaster at Elementary level and she would be really good if you want to work on the basics. I've not seen the horse, I only know her and she comes highly recommended.

Sarah Williams has a GP horse which is absolutely amazing to ride, but she only lets certain people ride him. She has a few other lower level horses too. I find her good for the more advanced work.

To be fair to Oldencraig, I used to have schoolmaster and lunge lessons there several years ago to keep me up to scratch whilst I was training my young WB. I had a fantastic classical trainer/GP rider called Eileen O'Connor who has sadly left. It depends hugely on the trainers and individual horses, especially if its mainly lunge lessons and seat training you're after. I couldn't advise you as I only know a couple of the current younger instructors there.

Good luck :)

They've just bought Katie Prices horse Glamour girl the one i believe she competed on in HOY's aswell as many other schoolmasters. (there other schoolmasters are listed on there website) I learn't to ride there so its my personal experiance!
