Scoped for ulcers

Those of you that decided to scope for ulcers, and are insured, did your insurance company exclude future colic treatment?

Those of you that suspect ulcers that haven't scoped, how have you gone about trying to sort the ulcers out? Thank you
 
We scoped one and he did not have ulcers, no mention of colic exclusions, he had just had one very minor colic prior to scoping.

Another horse had a short course of GG, following a very stressful time he was seen cribbing so was quickly put on GG just in case it was due to ulcers we never scoped him as the GG seemed to help immediately and he has not cribbed since, no exclusions on him either, although I suspect if I wanted to scope and treat in the future they may decide not to pay out but there is nothing on his renewal to say he is not covered for ulcers or colic.
 
Thanks be positive. So the insurance company won't always ask for the horse to be scoped for ulcers before they give the go ahead for the vet to treat?
 
We didn't ask the insurance company, I phoned the vet and he let me pick up the GG without delay, the horse was undergoing numerous other issues at the time so it all got lumped in as part of that, it totaled just in excess of the limit anyway so we were happy to pay that part if it was questioned. He only had 2 weeks on it, so I have no idea what they would have done if we decided he required longer, I guess we would have scoped and tried to start a new claim but think they would have said it was all linked to his injuries, treatment and stress from going in for surgery, it was a gamble that paid off as the last thing we needed at that time was a cribber who was on box rest for 2 months with no option to even walk out for grass.
