Am looking for possibly a project for the summer - I have in my head I would like either a Welsh D or an Irish type. I've been trying to find studs / yards who sell these sorts of horses but can't find very many. Could anyone recommend any please? As I said, this is for a project so want a 4yo, ideally unbacked or just newly backed so not silly prices - most yards who sell Irish horses seem to have them as semi-experienced 5yo's which I dont really want (the fun is doing it myself!).

Billy Stewart usually has some irish horses. Sandy Laird may have something but he ususally has the ones that are a bit naughty or highly strung. Fiona Burgoyne has horses but I think they're more sport horse types, if you give her a phone she may know of someone though.

You could also try Project Horses.com

Another vote here for Richard Duncan, RD Sports Horses. I got the most brilliant 4 year old mare from him. Best horse in the world!

Hi Magic Melon - have you tried the Balhagarty Stud at Laurencekirk? Several years ago we had Balhagarty Alpha ( ie their first one! who is pictured in their website - now in Italy)H e took my daughter from Intro to 1* BE.

They have several Welsh D x TB's for sale unbroken who might suit, as welsh as pure Welsh D.

Good luck - have you sold your grey?
