I am just about to move to Scotland with my OH and 1 horse. My OH is looking for work in Edinburgh/Glasgow, so we have been looking for houses in the small towns with train stations and easy access to both.

I will be working from home and would love to be able to see my horse during my lunch break :-) I have not seen any equestrian properties to let so far, and we have a limited budget. But if I could find a house either in walking distance to a livery yard or that had its own grazing that would be ideal.

Does anyone know of anything or could recommend where to look? (Have tried googling but no success so far)

Just wrote a big reply and it got deleted aaaarrrgghhh!!!

anyway here goes again:

depends where ur hubby gets his job. there are loads of liveries near both Edinburgh and Glasgow:

Edinburgh - morton mains, meadow head, tower farm, swanston, pentlands etc

Glasgow - Hazeldene, Busby, Linn Park, Roundknowe farm...

If you google livery near glasgow or livery near edinburgh then you get a big list of them. You could then look for houses in the local area. For example, Uddingston has a train station with trains to Glasgow and Edinburgh and lots of farms doing livery.

It is a 45 minute commute from Edinburgh to Glasgow on the train so if ur OH is ok to travel then you can pretty much pick and choose where you want to live.

PM me if you want more info :-)

Have you tried the Scottish Solicitor's Property Centre pages? They list properties from several agents.

I know the Aberdeenshire branch (prob too far away for where you're looking) lets you select houses with land on their website but not sure about other areas. I'm sure if you checked with the Edinburgh and Glasgow offices on the phone they would be able to advise.

Have you had a look on right move?

There are equestrian properties at reasonable prices in stirlingshire and ayrshire.

There is also the GSPC you could try and S1homes.

Around Glasgow there are stables at Mugdock and tannoch and Glennifer Braes - that is south of the city and ardowan. There are also a few private yards doing livery dotted about.

There is a couple of places around Torrance too.

I hope this helps.

Try renfrewshire area like Houston Kilmacolm bridge of weir all 20 mins on the train to Glasgow ingilston equestrain center is the - best equestrian school in Scotland and is a very horsey place so loads of livery yards that's where I'm from hope that helps

I'm renfrewshire too and there are lots of livery yards round here, and its handy to ingliston so close! I think Lawmarnock, Meadow Park and Wardhouse are the biggest yards round here but there are loads of smaller ones too.

Also worth trying Stewarton, Dunlop, Newmilns, Fenwick and Galston. There is definately a train in Stewarton and Dunlop (I keep my pony there) but not sure of the other three.

Oh and Lochwinnoch - train station there too.
