Scottish Independence?

I don't understand what Alex Salmond has to do with the tram fiasco considering it was the SNP's who wanted to scrap it and its actually Edinburgh City Council who own the project?

I am on the fence and enjoy listening to debates on the referendum. What interests me though is that I can see a pattern emerging with those who say yes or no.

Most people who say "no" to the split say so because they don't like A.S and think he's a glory hunter etc and that his only secret weapon is relying on 16yo voters or hooligans who are over patriotic and hate England.

There have been a few who have given some financial debate and become moderately technical but I've not had an in depth educationally informed discussion from this camp.

Most who say "yes" have however provided deep financial analysis and have been people who have spent time living in different countries and have experienced different governments and also countries who have undergone such splits.

None of the debates have related to me and my life hence I can't make a decision as yet and really hope that in the next year some clarity for everyone is given.

I do however think that's some things do have to change for Scotland. I would like to see Westminster politicians spend more time in Scotland and I'd like to be able to vote for a party other than SNP or Labour and have the vote count for something. I'd like to be able to watch the BBC or ITV breakfast shows and see news in the whole of the UK, not just on policies etc that govern England and Wales only. I do not like riverly between the countries and would like national teams for everything - what do we have GB Olympic teams but not football teams?

I was lucky enough to attend the Olympics this year but sitting in the stands watching Charlotte win the dressage gold was dispirited by people next to us saying on the phone that Engalnd got gold then later that day when chatting in a queue to a couple who had been to the hockey telling us that England had won something that day too - it's easy to see why people get frustrated.

This for me - if they want to go along, then so be it, just don't expect quite the same level of help.

Although would rather not need a passport to see the relatives :eek:
 
A no from me. All of my family are Scottish but I was born on an RAF base in Germany and spent most of my formative years between England and South East Asia! I like being a British Scot :)

Also if we do become independent, then Nicola Sturgeon will NEVER shut up and I'll have to look at Jackie Bird even more often.
