Hi,

Our riding club is trying to plan and book clinics for the upcoming season and we were wondering about having a natural horsemanship clinic. We were told to try a Mike Barker so we're wondering if anyone has any experience of him, good or bad? PM me if you like.
Thanks x

Is he the Australian person?

If so, he had some good ideas, which would be quite useful I think.

I took my horse because he is a bit of a reluctant loader. No big improvement at clinic, but he has got much better lately, probably because of my attitiude.

(You WILL GO IN NOW, rather than - would you mind putting your foot on the ramp please and then you can gaze around for 5 minutes ..................)

Yes, sorry should have said- he is Australian.
I know very little about him other than that. While googling him, I cam across mention of a Shuna Shaw (silversand natural horsemanship)- any experience of her would be good to know too. Thanks

Don't have any direct experience but my vet reccomended him (was shocked to say the least, didn't expect him of all people to start eccomending NH) my guess is that if the vet reccomended him (horse happeared to have some behavioral issues, turned out she was just in pain from her teeth) then wouldn't be too wary.
Hope that helps

Know someone who used him.She bought a Mariuson horse cheap because tho good natured on ground he had 'backing/riding issues (understandable when you knew his history). He really helped this owner and her horse.

My friends and I have had Shuna come several times to us, sometimes doing 1-1 lessons, sometimes groups. She's great, nobody ever says a bad word against her. She is very calm, good with the horses and a good teacher. She has an NH approach, but rather different to Parelli, better we thought.
One thing that made her a bit different is her interest not just in what people think of as NH, but also dressage. That is, dressage taught in harmony with classical and NH principles.
She does some work with Eriskay ponies, starting them and finding them homes.
Would recommend her. I've found a link to some info...

Yes, I thought Shuna sounded good looking at the website. Good feedback on Miike Barker too- will pass on info to rest of the club and probably speak to both of them.
Thanks for the feedback guys. x
