I'm planning our spring/summer hols and fancy driving up the west side of Scotland. Anybody know any good trekking establishments where I can ride out for a few hours to see the countryside? I'm fussy about the care of the horses by the centre but don't mind what sort they are!

Saw that one when googling - it did look really good. A good choice of rides including swimming with your horse - hmmmm. I was thinking of something a little less life threatening than that.

How far up north are you going? anywhere near inverness-shire/black isle? If you are then i would recomend broomhill, they do a beach ride and just hacks around woods and stuff, but is that too north maby? x

If you don't mind hopping across on the ferry to the Isle of Mull, Mull Pony Trekking is fantastic. Liz is great (she posts on here - user mullponytrekking), the ponies are well looked after, the scenery is great, and it's reasonably priced. We went for a 3 hour trek, incorporating a beach ride (we cantered of course - glad OH can ride!!). She's very flexible, can cater for all types of riders, and the ponies are just the best!! Her website is www.mullponytrekking.co.uk.

Hope this doesn't seem like advertising, it's really not! But I can honestly say it was THE best hack of my life
