Don't you just love searching for unaffiliated events?! I'm having a bit of a planning session with my diary and have been searching websites for dates. Providing I haven't lost my bottle xc, I was planning on doing Scone unaffiliated in May. Everything is dependant on the blasted B+E test. Humph.

So far I have found the following cross country things before the start of May, can you think of any others to fill in the gaps?

March 12th - ELPC Tyninghame schooling
March 13th - Berwickshire Hunt - Duns Castle hunter trials
March 27th - Fife Foxhounds - Montrave hunter tirals
April 2nd - ELPC Pick a Fence
April 3rd - Manderston hunter trials
April 16th - ELPC hunter trials
April 17th - Fife RC Craigie hunter trials, Angus PC Auchlishie hunter trials OR Gleneagles hunter trials
May 7th - FHPC Scone ODE

Hopefully I shall become a regular at SNEC on Wednesday evenings too, in an attempt to overcome my SJ demons. If anyone has been to these nights, could you tell me you informal it is, i.e. will I look silly if I turn up in my tweed jacket?

I am going to watch with interest this thread, im a little disorganised and plan week or two in advance just in case....

We could always try and have our own schooling day around some where near by, like edinburgh equestrian or smeaton :D Im looking forward to x country again just hope Magic remembers!!! :D

There is also the HHO outing to Starthearn was it the 26th March?

Updated! Broken it up into weekends to make it easier. I'm sure Hallyburton and Doune should be on there somewhere but can't find dates for them yet. A visit to Smeaton or EE sounds good too, possibly for the end of April? :)

Obviously, I'm not planning to do all of the ones listed (!) just thought it'd be nice for us to have a list to save us all having to trawl through dozens of websites.

March 12th - ELPC Tyninghame schooling
March 13th - Berwickshire Hunt - Duns Castle hunter trials

March 19th -
March 20th -

March 26th - HHO schooling day at Strathearn
March 27th - Fife Foxhounds - Montrave hunter trials

April 2nd - ELPC Pick a Fence
April 3rd - Manderston hunter trials

April 9th -
April 10th -

April 16th - ELPC hunter trials
April 17th - Fife RC Craigie hunter trials, Angus PC Auchlishie hunter trials OR Gleneagles hunter trials

April 23rd -
April 24th -

April 30th -
May 1st -

May 7th - FHPC Scone ODE

Feel free to copy and paste and fill in the blanks :)

No Halliburton this year, late Easter (always Easter Monday) interferes with thefarm/estate.

Brechin are having a schooler/pick a fence on the 12th of March.

I will to be watching this one!

Gleneagles has combined training on the 27th March (moved from 20th). You can do either SJ or Dres or both.

Do you have any further details on these ODE's i.e. what height they start at?

babybear - drumlanrig starts at 2ft, quite a hilly course but good fun. SJ and DR on the flat though.
houston starts at 2ft6, they usually do sj then straight onto xc.

cant help with filling in the gaps much but have you thought of hiring xc courses, edinburgh equestrian at dalkieth is a nice one to hire, i believe vogrie hire theirs out too, also you will look so out of place if you wear your tweed jacket to snec on a weds night, its just a schooling night very laid back, most people just wear normal riding clothes

SNEC Wednesday evenings used to be bedlam as run by the students. The courses always had dodgy distances and even though closet to us we would always travel twice the distance to get a decent course at Rowallan.

However, things may be different since George took over and the courses are probably very well built now.

Does Corsliehill still run? It was always a good one. Usually end of May so doesnt help much with lack of June fixtures but maybe another to add to the list. Used to be run by L and R hunt I think.

Edenside derbies (http://www.edenside.co.uk). The next horse one is this Sunday starting at 1pm. The next pony one will be the fortnight after that again, same day of the week and time.

Dabbs do lots of unaffiliated stuff too: their official name's Howe's Country Centre (http://www.howecountrycentre.co.uk/).

It's also a good idea to keep looking both on the Fife RC and N.E. Fife RC websites for extra training sessions/unaffiliated events.

For those looking beyond may: the Edenside derbies run every fortnight (i.e. monthly for horses and ponies) and do so until the Memorial Trophy Cup in October. While it is SJ, they also have rustic fences, ditches, Devil's Dyke, table top and true banks. Louise Milne does XC schooling classes in the SJ paddock with Fife RCs, so it's a nice compromise. It's also know for being incredibly spooky at the jumps are so varied - it makes for an excellent schooling show!
