I have noticed that Beastie's coat is quite scruffy/dandruffy and when you part it you can see the skin is quite dry. I am always very careful to rinse her really well after a shower so don't know if it could be that? She is on a dry food diet. Burns Chicken and Brown Rice or Fish and Brown Rice and on occassions gets wee off cuts of meat or a wee bit of gravy to make it a bit tastier.

Would this be causing it or is there anything I can do?

9 times out of 10 a skin condition comes from inside i.e food
if that food suits her well, try adding some olive oil or cod liver oil to the food.
or you could mix in some oily fish every now and again, be careful of bones!
If that does not help try a good quality medicated shampoo for dogs

i would agree with jembo and add some oil to your dogs food. try putting one cod liver oil capsule in his food daily (the same kinda capsules humans take, but dont use high dose ones, just normal strength). It may take a little while to see a difference, give it a good week or two.

I add oil capsules to my dog's food as well. She does have some flakiness when the seasons change but overall she gleams (as evidenced in the piccie!). The oil I use has a combination of flax, fish and hemp seed. I've also started giving her coat a quick brush down, once a week, and that has made it even nicer.

...or you could try adding Vitacoat supplement to the food ...you can get it at most big pet stores.
