My mare is clipped and wearing a full neck rug but her skin is very scurfy she is ridden daily so the rug is removed and she is groomed thoroughly so not sure how to help it she is itchy too
She is fed high fibre high oil food her feed hasnt changed year on year this is the first time she has been clipped but she has been rugged before in the same rug. so what would you do?
Cant see any lice or anythin living on her and although she is itchy she isnt that bad just likes a good scratch she isnt rolling or rubbing herself

when you ride get her quite hot and sweaty then blast with the hosepipe to lift all the crap off the skin, just make sure she drys off properly, and perhaps give her rug a wash??

Perhaps shes too warm?

Have you heard of Equi-Oil? I've used it for my mares mud fever but it also helps ease sweet itch and other forms of skin ailments. Have a look on their website and see if it could help?

Hope you find something :)

No a bit rich for me I am afraid will give her a bath and wash her rug once it gets a bit warmer She is a real poppet and I wouldnt want to chill her as she lives out 24/7.

The Equi-Oil isn't rich at all, its 100% natural ingredients and meets FEI and Racing regulations so doesn't contain any nasty chemicals, and, it 100% works :) cleared up my mares mud fever within days and now I just keep the bottle handy to top up and keep it at bay. I'd definitely say its worth a try, especially if she lives out as its a good barrier too.
