Scurvy

I took my mare's rug off at the weekend so she could have a good roll without it and noticed that her head and neck is covered in scurvy.

Has anyone got any advice on what to feed her and also if there is anything I can put on it to get her coat back to normal.

Pop some oil in to her feed that usually gets rid of scurf.

which oil do you suggest??

I personally prefer corn oil. But plain old vedge oil is fine.

Hi, I also think corn oil is fantastic stuff. You could also try some multivitimins - I have found they give a boost at this time of year when they have not got any nutrition from new grass.

My boy was very scurvy under his neck cover and since I started black sunflower seeds 3 weeks ago it has definatly stared to improve.

A good dollop - or 5ml
