Searching for a saddle sub £1000

Hi

I am looking to buy a saddle for my 15.1hh Welsh section D with little or no wither. His current saddle (a Cair) slips terribly around his barrel (hes not really overweight just a peculiar shape!) and I dont find it very comfortable to sit on. He's also very long in the back! I'd love a leather or leather/synthetic mix but can't spend more than £1000. Does anyone have any bright ideas please? There is just too much choice out there!!

second hand - or try and see if you can get a deal on a ideal ramsey - i think I paid 800 for a bespoke fully suede one a few years back and its a beautiful saddle (which comes as standard in leather - the suede was my choice, I use the saddle,purely for the show ring)

Thorowgood T8 cob saddle? Synthetic and leather mix but very smart and so comfy

Albion k2 is a great fit on my flat backed sport horse and doesn't budge. I picked it up 2nd but lightly used for £500 and they are really comfy

I had a Kent and Masters on a no-withered Sec D. Worked a treat.

I suggest you get out a good fitter personally recommended by more than one person locally. Choose one that is not affiliated to a particular manufacturer and that carries a good range of second-hand saddles. For your budget you can be sure of getting a very good second-hand saddle which will probably suit you and your horse better and be better value than a low to mid-range new one.
