The Animal Health Trust need our help to investigate this illness:

http://www.aht.org.uk/seasonal_illness.html

This is a mystery illness, and the AHT are trying to work out what causes it, so they can then look into prevention and cure. If you have walked your dog in any of these locations since 1 August, please download and submit a questionnaire (find them at the above link), even if your dog did not become ill. The locations are:

The Sandringham Estate
Clumber Park
Thetford Forest
Sherwood Forest

You can also find information about the symptoms, and other areas where illness has been reported, at the above link.

Thanks

May just be a coincidence but all cases in Sherwood Forest & Clumber Park (& Blidworth woods) have occurred when potatoes are grown nearby.

Hi all

Bumping this thread because ...

...my friend's dogs have just spent two days in the vets with what is believed to be this illness. She nearly lost one of them but fortunately they are getting better and should be allowed home later today.

We need to make everyone aware of it so that they can spot the symptoms and get the dogs into the vets for treatment.

I've just come back from 4 days on the Sandringham Estate, took 3 dogs. Asked lady running the campsite, they'd had a serious case last week as owner ignored advice. They advise people keep dogs on leads through the woodlands as this seems to lessen the cases, the mites are around until the frost. However I only walked the dogs around the campsite it's self not around the campsite dog walk (in the woods) or the surrounding woodlands. The case last week was let off and allowed to forage through the woods as by owner's own admission, not taken seriously

My 3 are fine
