I know it depends on the brand, deepness of the seat etc., but is there generally a large difference between a 17" and 18" seat?

But an inch on a ruler isn't much (to me anyway), so when you're riding in it would you really feel the difference?

I feel a huge difference between a 17" and a 17.5" - 17" fits me but I slide all over the place in anything bigger. I think an inch can be the difference between whether the saddle fits the horse and/or rider, or not - so yes chances are you will notice it!

Ditto this. My share's owner has just replaced his 17inch GP with a 17.5, fairly forward-cut, which fits her much better; I rode in it for the first time today and was totally at sea. I have tiny little legs and even riding short they don't reach the knee rolls, nowhere near. I felt much less stable, my back ached and I found myself wondering if doing anything but the odd hack is going to be possible. Can you tell I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself? Horse loves saddle though, so the important person is happy!
