Can anyone recommend Seaweed for hoof condition. My horse always had poor feet, I tried F4F which was brilliant but it did not suit my horse, seemed to make him very nervous so took him off it and he went back to normal. Am now using Pro-Feet which has made great improvements. Unfortunately for me I am finding cash a little difficult at the moment due to a new house!! I just cannot sell him it would breat my heart so am looking for cheaper alternatives My farrier recommend Seaweed.

My boy is on F4F but I've also put him on the dengie chaff with added biotin for laminitic horses. (He is no where near laminitic!!) also have fed him limestone flour which is good to add more calcium into the diet.
I have fed seaweed but for general condition not specifically feet, my other horse has a lovely shine on him after being fed seaweed and all the other food he's on...for the last 6 weeks since I got him!!

a daily application of turpentine followed by iodine on the coronary band if he has sand cracks does a great job.

Seavitmin is good, and fairly inexpensive. I recently started using a pur seaweed supplement that was about £14 for 15kg, but I can't remember its name - sorry, but got it from farm ship, and is in a big green bag!

Thanks to everyone for replying - been doing alot of research on the internet. Simple Systems do a Seaweed supplement as do Dodson and Horrell (Seaweed and Rosehip) which they say is excellent for hoof condition. Will give it a go along with Dengie Healthy Hooves chaf. There are lots of other companies that seem to do this remedy to but not heard of them - Equs Health? As did a link on the H&H website http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/horsecare/1370/38172.html
