I had this exact same problem today, despite him having had 22 sedation tablets, he still reared so high that he fell over himself! The only way we did it in the end was a Monty Roberts halter, walking him over the ramp several times, and every now and then acting as if we were walking into the trailer but not acutally walking into it and then we would try to walk him over the ramp and into the trailer but if he refused he was told to backup and we retried, it took 2 hours, but it worked. We did have a couple of bad falls to begin with where he would rear and throw himself off the side of the trailer but eventually he decided to just go in, just keep trying and make sure you use a pressure halter, fighting with a bridle or with a normal headcollar will get you no where, good luck.
P.s trust me its hard, he had the bad fall today, he ripped the trailer metal to shreds and he lost a shoe and cut himself, so trust me all sorts can happen but eventually they do give in, you need to try for the entire day, or get a box for his field!
