I have just put my Elevator on Ebay and have had an email ansking if I have a buy it now.

As there are no bids and no watchers I was thinking of accepting.. Is that really unethical?

Also what should I name as my BIN? I was hoping for around £120 inc reins as its only been used a handful of times and cost £190?! Is that a bit steep? What would you say is the right price?

Thanks

I would add to the listing that u have it advertised else where and that u have the right to withdraw it early if it is sold out of auction, let the bidding go on for a while (depending on how long u have it listed for) to see how it does and if its not making much then let it go for a buy it now to the person interested. I dont think £120 is to steep at all. Good luck

Oh and i know that sounds sneeky but u have to make your money some how!!!

how long does it have to go? If finishes today and no bids or watchers than yes give them a BIN price of whatever you like but if it has loads of time left then I would leave it

I only put it on about an hour ago for 5 days, so a fair while to go. This lady needs it in a rush though so if I say no and then get no bids I shoot myself in the foot

Im rubbish at things like this.

Ide let her have it. But dont let her haggle on the price. If she's that desperate she will pay the cash! Oh and beware i was selling an item last week had someone do the same thing. (email for a buy it now) So silly me said yes ok, took it out of the auction then asked for the money via paypal and it turned out they were using a dodgy credit card, so i had no money and still have the item!!!

So just make sure u get the cash cleared before u stop the auction.

Def let her have it if shes willing to pay what you want for it... adding a BIN will also ensure it goes through the proper channels.........via ebay

This is very dishonest and is the sort of thing that gives Ebay a bad name!! You do not have the right to withdraw an item even if you day you have sold it elsewhere, if you want to ensure it does not sell unless it reaches a certain amount then but a reserve on it.

The quote "nobody ever got rich being honest springs to mind"!!!

Oh and just for the record i have a hundred % feedback and never had a problem on the very very few occasions i have with drawn an item!!

maybe because when you do withdraw an item people can't leave feedback! How would you like it as a seller if your highest bidders withdraw at the last minute and then your item doesn't sell for as much? IF someone has bid on your item then they are going to potentially miss other items. It is not how auctions work and people should not list on Ebay if they do not understand this

Who ever said that i, or advised anyone to take an item from auction at the very last minute after people have bid!!! Didnt u say urself that if u have no bids then give the person interested a BIN price???

Never assume someone is dishonest when you dont know them or the full story!!!

Sorry have to agree with Horsegirl, I had bid on an item on ebay, lady told me that she didnt want to complete the deal as she since found that the item wasnt working and didnt think it was fair to sell it. Both left positive feedback, i said that she was honest for not sending a broken item.

Checked back a few days later and she had it for sale at a higher starting price!

I would never do that. I am always upfront. If i have a lot of bids then i wont pull out as horsegirl said its not fair on the bidders.....but if i had no bids or maybe one or two at a very minimal price then yes if some offered me a BIN i would sell it. But i will always let the bidder/s know that i have sold it for a BIN. I dont think thats being dishonest at all. But hey every1 is entitled to their oppinion.

The bridle is yours to sell or not to sell, whatever you want to do. If you wish to withdraw the item then you are free to do so...simple as that.

Beware of people contacting you & saying they need it urgently etc, invariably they don't offer anything like a realistic price. When I have placed quality saddles on Ebay I have had several people contacting me saying they need it quickly for a show & would I accept a buy it now price of ?. Most of these are dealers & are trying to buy things for next to nothing by using lies & trickery & wanting toi sell them on themselves to realise a true profit.

Do as you want,it's your auction.

Oh...& don't be too quick to accept buy it now...it's only been on the site for a few hours, you've got days to go yet & most interested buyers won't bid until the last hour or so of the auction....Give it a chance.
