I have bought / sold a couple used rugs but only with other people on the yard. The horses all go out in the field together and none of them have anything. From time to time rugs will get borrowed or lent also.
I personally wouldn't buy a used rug from a tackshop unless it had been professionally cleaned - or was cheap enough to warrant me paying to have it done!
I really only ever buy Rambo and Fal rugs and these rarely come up for sale second-hand so I always have to buy new.
I don't think I would buy a used rug from an unknown source, however if a friend was selling a good quality rug for a fraction of the new cost then yes I would likely buy it from her.
Rugs take up such a huge amount of my budget and if I could make some savings along the way it would be nice, however I'm really not sure whether I would buy a used one from Ebay or suchlike.......I honestly don't know
I alway choose a rug I want normaly the most dear so look second hand so I can give my boy the best rather then cheaper new. Makes sense to spend £150 after its been rolled in then £250 pre roll.

echo that - I have a growing youngster who, in his first year, went through 5 turnouts. This summer I invested in a 2nd hand rambo wug from eBay, had it cleaned and reproofed, and will sell it on when he outgrows it.
I've only ever bought one used rug off a friend before but with the prices of rugs these days, I'm sure you can get them pretty cheap new anyway?! So doubt I would again!
I have bought a couple of second hand rugs off Ebay and i must admit they have been like new but a fraction of the price. Although you can get new ones quite cheap now days. Can't seem to find a second hand boett to fit my shettie though!
Nope, I have access to very cheap Horseware rugs (Sweetitch hoody & LW Rambo Original both £15 for example) so have no need to buy secondhand - might do if I could find a thermatex though!!
