Do you think there is a market for second hand tack and harness at the moment?
On my travels i often see second hand tack for sale, and think to myself it all looks a bit grubby and uncared for and with a bit of time and saddle soap it could fetch more money.
But could it??

How many of you buy second hand?

Also can anybody recomend a good tack repairer in south Dorset?

Thankes. :)

I've sold three good quality saddles over the last few years with no problems. I have, however, been trying to sell a brand new and unused Stubben bridle for 6 months with no success. I think used saddles tend to sell better than other second hand tack.

Local horse market has a tack sale every month. Silly beggers seems to pay stupid money for tack....so much so I bought a couple of cheap saddles off ebay and they sold for double what I paid for them....so yes, there is definately a market for tack!

My saddle is second hand, just had it reflocked, would've cost me about £300 more if I'd bought it new!

So yes, I'm all for secondhand tack :D

All of my tack is second hand, I feel guilty buying new tack.

My saddle cost 1/2 what it would've cost if it were new, because of that saving I could buy Sprenger stirrups. My bridle was about a third of the new price so I bought a second hand NS bit to go with it :).

I think there is a market for second hand tack, certainly in my house anyway :o

Forgot to say, last year I sold second hand tack, riding wear and rugs at events / shows and did very, but I struggled to keep up with demand, so this year I'm having a complete change and will be selling new things.

Just thought i would test the water first and see what people on here thought.
i think i will give it a go, and see if i can make some extra money.
Thanks all for your input. :)
