With the storm coming on Friday I am concerned about losing my feild shelter Roof!! Is there anything at all I can do to try and prepare? I have seen some people saying anchoring with ropes but is this effective and doable?
Thanks

I have successfully anchored the roof of a tack room with ropes. However, I was able to tie the ropes to some heavy lumps of concrete (those sleeper things that are used for metal fencing around building sites which don't move), rather than the structure itself. I think I would be wary of doing it where horses could get tangled in the ropes or could be hit by debris/ropes flying off.

I‘ve had two large mobile field shelters blown over by wind on Dartmoor. One ended up on it’s roof in the lane and the other buried itself roof first in the hedge. Both were able to be dismantled and reconstructed. My shepherds hut with it’s in excess of one tonne iron undercarriage trundled harmlessly into the gate one night. I’ve just emailed my former neighbour to wish him luck on Friday.
