After the other night when someone was at the yard asking after the horses late at night I've just come down to find a lead rope just looped over the front gate.

Call me paranoid but it didn't get there on its own! And I know noone at the yard would have left it just lying there?

The yard is fully locked with 2 gates, down a fairly well hidden road and all headcollars etc at least hidden if not also locked up.

Blaze is microchipped and there are warnings of CCTV and guarddogs all over the yard.

Is there anything else I could do to make sure he's secure? Because I'm getting a little bit concerned now!

Is he microchipped or freezemarked? you could put signs up warning of these? Don't lock him in though just in case of emergency!

He's never locked in the stable, nor will he ever be! He is microchipped though not freeze marked. There are however warnings that the horses are.

Freezemarking makes a lot of difference. Unlike microchipping it is visible to the naked eye, and can put off a potential thief as the moment you report your horse stolen, anyone can see a freezemark from a distance whereas a microchip, you need to be next to the horse. Are you near a local village? You could put the word about to look out for suspicious people or vehicles, like a neighbourhood watch.

That's also a good point.. Not my yard so can't just go ahead and do it but I did check after you pointed that out and it's almost scary how easy it would be to undo!

Thanks everyone
