Hi all,

I'm moving one of my horses tomorrow, he's a terrible loader but travels fine when on. I have some sedalin but want to know how much to administer? Also is it about an half hour wait for it to be effective? He's a 16.2hh TB, unsure of exact weight as has been on loan but in good condition.

Advice appreciated, thanks :)

My horse is 15.2hh and on the box. The vet said to give her 3m. She had it as was on box rest for 2 month after colic op. She had busted me knuckle taken her for her 15 min inhand walk so i asked for some for when she goes out in small field for first time. I also give her 3m when i moved yards 3 weeks ago. she is good at loading and traviling. Just wanted to make sure. good luck with move xx

if you have no experiance of using sedation, id suggest talking to a vet or reading the intruction paper that comes in the box with the tube.

As someone has said!

Check with your vet!

Some horses are very sensitive than others! I have seen a 15hh hw cob practically fall down asleep on 3mls!

Good luck with the move

Used sedalin for my mare to load (she doesn't load!!) I gave her a tiny bit just to take the edge off and she was out with the fairies! She nearly fell down asleep with it. Still couldn't get her any where near the box and decided to try without another day.

Thankfully she has loaded first time the last few times we have loaded but I defo wouldn't use sedalin again!

Good luck anyway!

As others have said really.
My 16.2hh MW was a dope on a rope with 2ml but once the adrenalin kicked in, it didnt work.
Good luck with the move

Given my 16.2 tb half a tube as recommended by vet for various things over the years. Had no effect whatsoever on him in any of the situations! His adrenaline kicks in and fights it! However my 17hh built like a tank id has half a tube for the dentist and it definitely takes the edge off! Not to the point he's away with the fairies though but just chills him slightly! Think it depends on each horse, so I would get in touch with your vet and see what they recommend.
