hi my horse is going into a bigger paddock today,9wks after colic surgery,i have the gel to sedate him for the first few days,i want to know can you put it his feed?? i have read on a web site that you can.
you can put it in feed, but even giving it straight to my horse made no difference whatsoever when it came to the crunch, I gave my horse the gel and an hour and a half later farrier turned up, looked at Thunder in his stable and said oh good he is "under" but when he lifted his foot up Thunder went nuts and poor farrier hurt his arm, i suppose farrier could have been a bit more careful
used it in my mums horse and its very unreliable. to give you the best chance with it, you need to administer the paste then leave your horse quiet and undisturbed for up to an hour before you need him actually sedated. Any stimulation whilst paste is meant to be taking afftect can reduce its affectiveness. As scotch_mist says, when it comes the the crunch, it often doesnt have much affect. acp tablets would be better if you vet could give you them? not sure on the contra-indications following colic surgery tho so if a friend offers you any, check with a vet first.
well i gave him some in his feed and put him into his field and all he did was eat, i dont think the sedalin had any effect on him, so today i put him out again and all he did was eat again not even a trot at being free,,,
but tonight it has been so warm so decide to leave them out and cause they were so relaxed opened up the electric partition, at which point they went crazy, galloping, bucking, kicking,so had to seperate them again and tomorrow i think i will give him the sedalin and put them together
every horse is different, some it s good and some you wouldnt think had anything. If i need to give it i put a bit on some food in my hand and feed that to the horse.
