I'm hoping to have the Vet out to cut the skin flap away from my yearlings leg wound at the end of this Week. She'll have to sedate, so my question is: My yearling comes in at night and has a feed and haylage overnight. If the Vet comes at around the time she comes in,(5pm), should I feed her the bucket feed before she arrives or leave it until she's gone. How long after she's been sedated can I feed?

Is it not safe to feed after she's got over the sadation then? Is it detrimental to feed her 1/2 hr before? How soon after can I feed her haylage?

I think you shouldnt feed feed for about a couple of hours after sedation.... cant remember - ask you vet. Also ask about feed before as it may effect the sedatives. So yeah, ask your vet is best ! lol

I've always been told not to feed for 2 hours after sedation, and this means no turnout and also removing bedding if the horse is likely to eat it.
