sedation!

you can get ACP paste and sedalin/sedazene.

what do you need to sedate for? because your horse dosent like the dentist or for the dentist to do work in your horses mouth that requires your horse to be sedated? If its the latter you need a vet out to sedate him.

sedalin is great.

you can get it from the vet, administer 30 minutes before treatment,
they will be away with the fairies.
remove all feed/water until sedative wears off.

is that a injection? does the dentist give it or do you do it yourselve??

It is an injection and only the vet can give it. However, as I only ever have the vet to do my horses teath it's not a problem. Obviously it can get very expensive when you are paying for the vet's call out as well as the dentist.

if your vet does the dentist work then yes, but if you have an equine dentist then no! i cant say whether it will cause problems or not as i dont know how fit/well your horse is for its age, how have you had his/her teeth done in the past?

no, had her nearly a year now but i no her past owner and they have told me she will need sedation! i wouldnt say she is really fit! x

I don't think that ACP/sedalin works for all horses. In my experience, it has worked for my horse but the effect has really worn off after 20mins.

i was told that my 11 yo mare was always sedated for dentist. my dentist doesn't like it so he spent 15 mins with her and she has now just had her teeth done for the second time with no sedation.
