I realise I am tempting fate by posting this, as tomoorw she will be a snorting, hooning looney and i will probably end up with a broken collarbone.....

Since we moved to our new yard, the other liveries have given the Moose a VERY wide berth. it may be the way she weaves over her door, or the way she pulls the most hideous threatening faces at any horse that comes within 10 feet of her, or the way she invariably spazzes out when you take her rug off, and reverses at highspeed across the yard, or even the way she hurtles uncontrollably round and round the school with me clinging on for dear life and shouting foul abuse at her.

For some reason, everyone thinks shes a bit on the crazy side and that I am risking life and limb riding her. In actual fact, she is the sweetest soppiest mare around, she just has her little quirks - but in a great big nearly 17hh mare, "little" quirks are a bit scary to the uninitiated. for what its worth, she happily gives my 6 year old daughter pony rides around the school, and takes the most amazing care of her. Me, she dumps in the mud, but small people she idolises.

ANYWAY, yesterday, i went out for a hack with another lady who liveries at the yard, and the Moose was the perfect nanny horse. The other lady's horse is a very green cob mare, and can be very silly and rushy at times. The cob mare jogged and bounced all the way round, but the Moose did her best police horse impression - not a spook, not a snort, and not a hint of legging it, even when this mad cob thing danced sideways into her ! She just plodded onward like the perfect nanny horse.

This morning, I rode her in her new bridle for the first time, without the martingale and the hunting breastplate (AKA the Jesus Christ Handle), and she went beautifully in the school, even managing to canter nice 20m circles without bombing off or giving me a bloody nose.

i am VERY happy with my girlie. Thank you Cazza for giving me free rein with such a smashing horse !
