I am looking to do local shoes with my welshy d x hanoverian/tb this summer. Advice on how/if to plait him and what classes would be great!

Dunno if you can see from these pics but he has a very thick mane. The picture of me and him showing was our first show, I left him unplaited as it was short notice and they didn't seem to mind, it is so long and usually wavy! It is also very thick so not even show how I would attempt to plait him. I have also only ever done youngstock inhand witrh him but can't now due to his age so any other classes? Must be inhand has neither of us ready for ridden, thanks in advance!:D

As long as you are showing locally claim him as a Welsh and you won't have to plait. Natives don't. But if you do working hunter with him you probably should. A running arab style plait might work well.

The only think about claiming he is welsh and I know you get them big is that he is huge! And fine haha but yeah was thinking working hunter could work thanks :) oh yeah running plait good advice!

You can get Welsh cobs as big as 16.2 now, though on a personal note, i would be mighty miffed if i took my D in a Welsh cob class only to find a PB in there.

I know you can be he doesn't look like one and there not as common as the little ones haha, and yeah I would be furious if I took my cob into a class and seen a cobs x something sporty :)

How big is he? He doesn't look that big in the photos, unless you are six feet or something!

I would do working hunter and riding club horse, speak to the judge and ask what classes they think would suit him perhaps?
