The whole thing is so very sad. I just hope Kirstie knew nothing about it. But how traumatic for her friends who were on Bebo at the same time knowing that this was how and when she died. My thoughts are with all the family and friends. RIP.

It looks like both were shot in the back of the head....so as someone said, small mercies...at least we can hope they knew nothing of what was going on or was going to happen. It would have been quick and painless.

So dreadfully sad - but as said above hopefully she new nothing about it. Again I really feel for her friends who she was online with - they are now the ones that have to live with that.

This is exactly what I thought had happened - although it is almost too horrific to imagine. This will have damaged so many more lives than those taken that night. It is terribly sad.

I am still angry that he, Mr Foster, had lived 50 happy years, had jobs, met his true love, had a child to love, bought all the things he wanted, lived the high life, whilst denying all of this to Kirstie.
He has stolen all of the years where she would have maybe gone to college, gone travelling, had her first job, house, boyfriend, etc.

Very selfish act, ok so his wife would have known what was happening with the business and perhaps him, but not his daughter, as for the animals why.......

Hmmmm.

So he couldn't live with being corrupt and bankrupt, and forgotten by most of us in a week - if remembered at all. Instead, he will forever now be fixed in everyone's memories as a murderer and character of unbelievable selfish arrogance and cruelty.

There are pictures of the house at the height of the fire in our local paper tonight, it really is an inferno. The report says that it is claimed he connected a pipe from the oil tank to the house and flooded the inside of the house with fuel

And yet in the same report friends at the party said he was laughing and joking and appeared perfectly normal. It is just unbelievable.

QR this man fills me with nothing but thoughts of pure hatred. It was cold and calculated murder, whichever way you look at it in my view. HE knew exactly what he was doing. He had planned the method of killing both his family and animals and of disposing all his assets in a fire before the tragic events for his family ensued. His actions were not those of a deranged or 'mentally ill' man but those of a sick barsteward who had nothing to gain from the killings but whose victims had everything to lose. THEIR LIVES and THEIR FUTURES!
Sorry not shouting at anyone but just really, really mad. Like many people on this forum I have been watching this story unfold and have been sickened to the core. It does not affect me directly in the same way that it does not affect most people on this forum in the same way but that does not mean that people cannot be sickened or grieve for those lives that were lost.
Like most people I just feel very sad about the whole situation and just hope and pray that the lives of the mum, daughter and animals were ended without fear and as quickly and painlessly as possible. They should not have died at all and we all know that but like others have said I hope that mercy was granted in their final moments and that they knew very little about what was going to happen.

Totally agree with you and Shils. It is also reported he had been drinking heavily, presumably to enable him to put this well-thought-out plan into action. This was no spur of the moment rush of blood; it was as cold and calculating an act of murder as has ever been committed. I am so, so angry and upset about this absolutely incredible scenario. Some men are evil; I don't buy the mental illness theory. Nobody ever says Robert Mugabe is depressed, they say he is a ruthless dictator. Mind you, he is said to be in the tertiary stages of syphillis, so maybe Foster was too.

I haven't said anything on this subject so far because I really could not fathom his actions or my feelings towards them.

With these new revelations, I can only feel disgust at a man who was so ego driven he chose to destroy not only his family, but everything they loved. I could understand to some extent, but not condone, a guy who suddenly and devastatingly snapped, but this must have been so well planned.

Too afraid to admit his biz was failing and scaled down/sold/done whatever to protect and keep his family, my gawd, ego can be a terrible thing. He has destroyed more than his immediate family, my thoughts to all his family's relatives and friends, and may that guy truly rot in whatever hell is deemed suitable for him.
