Seen a very nice grey ID X 4year old

At Jim Rooney Frizington Cumbria

Anyone had any dealings with them, they have three youngsters that I like the look of, all over from Ireland I think - but this one I like best.
Opinions -please I am looking for a nice laid back ID type for local Riding Club stuff and a lots of Hacking.
Back to the Irish Draught again - always my favourite!

There is also a 4 year old bay at £3000

Not sure will ask, making enquiries tommorow. He looks like my old horse from years ago.
Kind eye and a bit dozy looking, but probably very capable. I really like him, just hope hubby does too.
Good priceI think and yes, lots of growing and filling out to do.

Any obvious conformational issues - I cant see any?

sorry but don't like his conformation. chest is to narrow, neck very long and head to big also quite upright in his hind pasterns. even if he still has growing to do he doen't impress me sorry

i would say the bay has better confirmation but if you like them it would be best to go and have a look but i don't like the grey in the pictures but pictures can give you the total wrong image

I prefer the grey to the bay but im not really impressed by either cant place why but im leanig towards the grey...the grey has a lot of filling out to do might grow into a cracker...
i liked the look of the older chesnut pity about the weaving tho

If he's irish he'll have spent this winter hunting depending on where he was based could have been a few times a month..thats a lot of pressure on the joints a horse that hasnt filled out yet...id check his front legs well for splints and to see if hes toed in
That said id definately go for a look im a sucker for a easy going lookin horse...

i prefer the grey- his head is typical ID and i don't think it is too big. his neck is the right length for his body and in proportion- just needs some more muscle.

i also don't think he is narrow chested when you look at it in comparison to the rest of his body.

i can't really comment on his hind quarters as you can't really judge them from the angles in the pictures.

i think he looks like a typical ID type baby who hasn't been produced for showing and i think that once he has filled out, his head will look better and he will be unrecognisable.

I like the bay best but i aint keen on greys i would go and have a look at both, but he will fill out a lot so wouldn't go on a picture. Good luck

I cant bear to tell anyone what I sold him for after I broke my pelvis ( lunging him?????)

Practically gave him away, as no one would believe it was a stupid accident all my fault , and thought he was a monster. He is a perfect angel and the lovely girl who bought him got the bargain of a lifetime. But he lives at her home with own field stables and old girlfriends to keep him company, so I guess he got the home of a lifetime too and owner is vet nurse too! so we both had some good fortune.
He is local to me so I still get to see him and he has never been anything but a well manner angel.

Broke my heart to sell him, but I couldn't even find anyone to even get on him!! Had to sell him untried off the field practically. He cost me £2000 as a two year old and then £2000 to break professionally. Impecably bred in the Purple by Knockboy Hero out of TB Dam. full Brother and sister top eventers. Boo hoo.

My purebred RID filly was 16hh at 3 16.1hh at 4 and 16.2hh at 5. She then grew in the body. ID's are late maturers so he'll probably put another inch on and "look" bigger once he's filled out.

This is a dealers yard very close to where i live. They are honest folk and will do their best to match horses to owners. They do get quality horses and get them from ireland and have even got them from andalucia.
If the horse isnt right for you they wont push it, but would prob get you to look at something else. They have a nice indoor school and a busy road in front with quiet roads surrounding so good variation for trials etc.

Thanks for you comments - certainly they seem nice people when I talked to them today, but its best to get some refs from others.
Just got to get hubby to agree to view on the way back from London in June. Going on holiday down south for a fortnight.
Just hope the economic climate means he is not sold before I get there.
