Just passing through...
Luckily it went well
Have to wear the brace for another six weeks, with a check-up at three weeks. The vertebra has dipped a bit further, but overall the height is still good, so they are happy with it.
I would like to warn people though. If you have anything that that needs a follow up, make sure that both parties are clear about when the follow-up date is.
Apparently I should have been seen at two weeks. As the consultant said, luckily for me, and for them(!!), the vertebra did not collapse. If it had, they could have fixed it at two weeks; it cannot be fixed at six weeks.
When I was in hospital, I know the consultant said two weeks, but everyone else said six and the appointment that came through was for six, so I thought I had misunderstood and did not check it, just went at six weeks as directed.
I am so incredibly lucky that it is healing straight and did not collapse further
.
I await to see what the next check-up (with x-ray) shows.
Moral of the story: check and double check appointments.
