Luckily it went well :D

Have to wear the brace for another six weeks, with a check-up at three weeks. The vertebra has dipped a bit further, but overall the height is still good, so they are happy with it.

I would like to warn people though. If you have anything that that needs a follow up, make sure that both parties are clear about when the follow-up date is.

Apparently I should have been seen at two weeks. As the consultant said, luckily for me, and for them(!!), the vertebra did not collapse. If it had, they could have fixed it at two weeks; it cannot be fixed at six weeks.

When I was in hospital, I know the consultant said two weeks, but everyone else said six and the appointment that came through was for six, so I thought I had misunderstood and did not check it, just went at six weeks as directed.

I am so incredibly lucky that it is healing straight and did not collapse further :D.

I await to see what the next check-up (with x-ray) shows.

Moral of the story: check and double check appointments.

Hello Mrs M - I'm so pleased that it is all healing well! What a bugger about the timing mix up though!

You'll be settling down this afternoon with a hot choccie then?!! :)

Sounds like your recovering well, as for the appointment mix ups thats happened to me before, there not very clear!

Do you know when you'll be back in the saddle again? :)

glad to hear you're on the mend MrsM.... don't forget to get those core muscles working to keep it all supported from the inside!

Lol, I think having a cold has been helping in that department - coughing and sneezing when one has a cold is really, really not good! But, my core muscles have been working overtime to hold me together and protect my back :D

Glad you are recovering well MrsM :) I'm shore you'll be back in the saddle soon just let your back heal first. :)
I still limp and get aches from my broken hip (2 years ago now) and I think it's due to being forced back to work and riding to soon by my boss :(:( My hip is bad enough but your back deff needs time to fully heal. You'll be no good if it doesn't mend properly. :D

Surely it warrents a week off!!!:rolleyes:
And loads of hot chocolate, with marshmellows.;)
Seriously though, really pleased its all going well for you, make sure you keep wearing that back brace, I made the mistake of keep thinking, I will just pop and do so and so without it on, and then, my God did I suffer!!!

Glad to hear that your back is on the mend! I'm all too familiar with back problems so I understand what you are going through. I'm glad they caught that dipped vertebrae in time!! Just take it easy and keep wearing that brace. I had a corset thingey I had to wear too and that really help my back heal and stopped me from over exerting myself.

Great news!!! How lucky nothing untoward happened between when you SHOULD have been seen, and when you WERE seen!!!!!!!!!

Keep being good and doing as you're told lol :D
